I am a ordained minister pastoring a small urban church, "The Worship Center Int'l Inc. located in new Bedford, Ma.
My Ph.D is in the Philosophy of Pastoral counseling.
My dissertation was on "Recidivism."
I have worked as a counselor/supervisor in the Juvenile Justice system as well as a clinician/counselor in Adult facilities teaching a variety of subjects and counseling.
Please read what Jesus said in Matt. 25:31 -46 He's teaching about "The Sheep & The Goats". He's talking to believers.
The basic question is..."Where were you when I was suffering and in prison."
Jesus said in Matt.25:40..."The King will reply, Truly I tell you, Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Jesus also said in verse 45...."Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."
What are you doing as far as prison reform goes?
If nothing, here's your chance to sow seed into good soil.
Maybe you can't physically go or do not feel comfortable in that environment. That's understandable. But I am in and can get in more facilities with your financial help. Correctional facilities use predominantly volunteers and we thank God for them. Most facilities require traveling. which takes time. and preparation.
Where we differ from other programs is we infuse the principles of the Kingdom of God without proselytizing. Truth is truth. They have been to all the AA, NA, SA (etc) groups which help to some extent but they need to get to the root, the "why" and know they can overcome their addictions! They can recover no matter what shape their addiction comes clothed in.
These men and women come to our meetings voluntarily, excited and ready to learn. Their treated with respect and leave encouraged with curriculum that they can discuss with their wives and children who have the satisfaction of knowing their loved ones are not wasting time but taking advantage of the opportunity to learn and grow intellectually as well as spiritually. The whole family benefits.
My passion & goal is to prepare inmates for re-entry into society. By teaching as many inmates as possible Basic Life Skills, Personal Growth Development, Leadership Development, parenting etc. As a ordained Pastor, certified speaker, trainer, counselor and mentor with Dr John C Maxwell ( who is also a believer) and utilizing Dr. John Maxwell's material with curriculum they are learning, retaining and growing. These lessons are very practical and applicable. Through our meetings (in the facilities) we are seeing attitudes change, There is a hunger in the inmates to learn and become productive members of society. We bring them hope!
Each book has about 13 chapters, each chapter has a handout.
I teach for 1 1/2 hours - one evening per week. (13 weeks) That's just one facility.
My goal is to access 5 facilities, one every weeknight. Evenings are when the help is needed. Most volunteers are through by 5:pm.
I am in need of your financial support. If you can't go , you can give!
1. I have been going in as a volunteer and teaching the inmates for years at my own expense. Your giving (no matter how much) will be appreciated by me and the inmates.
2. I need your financial help to travel to more facilities.
3. Books /curriculum
4 Travel expenses
5. Food
6. Gas
7. Lodging
